This composition is a preparatory sketch for a larger work. It depicts two young women on a windy hill. The sun is behind them as fluffy clouds crawl across a cerulean sky. As the wind blows, one tries to lay a beach towel across the tall summer grass, while the other watches a far off friend, one hand holding her sunhat in place.
This is from my "Midwestern Nice" series, which depicts near-past nostalgia and sensory memories of rural and suburban Midwest experiences.
