BIOGRAPHY
Lisa Gloria is a contemporary realist painter working in the classical oil tradition. Based in Aurora, Illinois—just outside Chicago—she creates luminous still lifes, florals, portraits, and interiors that blend technical precision with emotional depth and modern sensibility. Her work invites quiet conversation between artist, subject, and viewer, often exploring light, texture, and the intimate beauty found in everyday objects.
Deeply influenced by French realist masters such as Henri Fantin-Latour, as well as American luminaries like John Singer Sargent and contemporary mentors including Michael Klein, and Jeremy Lipking Lisa paints “like the wind”—with energy, directness, and a reverence for the traditions of the past. Her self-taught journey began alongside roles as a writer, musician, gardener, and mother of four, experiences that infuse her paintings with narrative warmth and lived authenticity.
Lisa’s oils have been exhibited and collected nationally. She is represented by Susan Powell Fine Art and has been featured in publications including Southwest Art (as part of their “21 Under 31” series), Principle Gallery exhibitions and publications, and regional showcases. Her work has appeared in group shows and public art contexts across the Fox Valley, including Aurora’s vibrant downtown arts scene.
An experienced and passionate educator, Lisa has taught workshops for many years and shares in-depth oil painting instruction through her popular YouTube channel and upcoming streaming video courses. She believes in making classical techniques accessible while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.
When she’s not at the easel or in the studio, Lisa continues to write fiction and enjoys the simple pleasures of gardening and family life. Her paintings are held in private collections across the United States and are available through her studio, online, and select galleries.
