This composition is a preparatory sketch for a larger work. It's the second and larger piece of this general composition, which depicts a young woman in the early morning, walking a path, trailed by hungry hens. The sky is banded by salmon-colored clouds. She wears too-big clothes that billow around her in the breeze as she marches purposefully back to the house.
This is from my "Midwestern Nice" series, which depicts near-past nostalgia and sensory memories of rural and suburban Midwest experiences.
