Contemporary realist
I posted a new demonstration on Youtube a little while back. It is here: Pansies in Black – Oil Painting Demonstration
In other news, I was invited into a 5 person show in June at Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta Georgia. Very excited about that.
In yet more news, here are a couple new paintings:

Begonia Sketch, 14 x 11 on linen
Contact Tidewater Gallery for more information.

48 x 24 inches, oil on canvas
The Shelf Still Life #1 represents years of pondering about the shapes of things, and creating compositions that have strong abstract compositions while demonstrating an intimate sort of technical realism. I enjoyed this painting quite a lot. It’s 4 feet wide, and all the objects are life size. So when viewing it, all the narrow winding spaces between the objects become apparent. I was trying to show a sort of quiet space, a hush, with real things placed in a way you might experience them, yet with a dynamic, abstract expressionistic quality to the composition.
I’m going to be teaching 2 new workshops at the end of April: portraits and still life. These are landbased workshops that will take place in Aurora IL. Please visit here for more information. http://artstudiosecrets.com/onsite-workshops/ I’m only taking 6 students for each workshop, please sign up soon.
